​Scheduled Events for 2026









Registration for scheduled events will be at the event start point unless otherwise specified in the event brochure (see links below).  Due to the increasing fee the AVA is charging clubs per walk, we have raised our registration fee to $4 for IVV credit.  For walkers not seeking IVV credit (aka “Guest Walkers”), if a person is walking as a first-time guest at one of our group walks, they can walk for free, and the club will pick up the $2 fee for that walk. For any subsequent times they walk with us, they will be required to pay the $2 guest fee.

NEXT GROUP WALK

We have two group walks in May.  

Our next group walk, which will be the Monroeville, Alabama YRE on Saturday May 30 at 9:30 a.m. We plan to eat lunch at The Courthouse Cafe in Monroeville after the walk.

OUR MONROEVILLE WALK NOW USES ONLY THE ONLINE START BOX. IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO WALK WITH US, YOU MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE USING THE ONLINE START BOX (OSB) AT THE AVA WEBSITE FIND AN EVENT (ava.org)

NOTE: If you are planning to participate in the Monroeville Group Walk – Please let Diane McFarland know so she will be expecting you at the walk – You can contact her at often51@yahoo.com or 334-354-4576.  
 

Directions to the Start Point - 57 S Mt Pleasant. From I-65, exit 93 W to Monroeville on US 84. Approx 20 miles, at intersection with AL 21, turn right on AL 21. Follow AL 21 to town (do not take by-pass) to Hines. Left on Hines, then right on Mt Pleasant.
 


 
Our second group walk will be the Montgomery, Alabama YRE on Sunday May 31 at 9:30 a.m.  We plan to eat lunch at Jalapeno's in Montgomery after the walk.

 
Directions to Embassy Suites - 300 Tallapoosa St. 334-269-5055. From I-65 southbound, take Exit 172 (Downtown/Clay St). After 1st traffic light, turn left on Herron. Cross Interstate bridge. Go 5 blocks and turn left on Molton. Turn right on Tallapoosa. From I-65 northbound, take Exit 172 (Herron). Turn right. Go 5 blocks. Left on Molton. Right on Tallapoosa.

Year Round Events (YRE)

The Capital City Wanderers offers 7 events that may be walked during daylight hours, any day the start point is opened though December 31, 2026.  At each location except Monroeville, Montevallo, and Wetumpka, there is a "Volksmarch Box" or "Walk Box" which contains instructions for registering.  For Monroeville, Montevallo, and Wetumpka, we are only using the Online Start Box feature on the AVA website.   Every participant must register.  Additional information can be found on the AVA website under Find a Walk.  



Other Clubs' Events

Conditions

Everyone is welcome to participate.  Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  Pets must be on a leash at all times.  Litter should be discarded in proper receptacles.  No alcoholic beverages are allowed along the course.
