​Scheduled Events for 2026









Registration for scheduled events will be at the event start point unless otherwise specified in the event brochure (see links below).  Due to the increasing fee the AVA is charging clubs per walk, we have raised our registration fee to $4 for IVV credit.  For walkers not seeking IVV credit (aka “Guest Walkers”), if a person is walking as a first-time guest at one of our group walks, they can walk for free, and the club will pick up the $2 fee for that walk. For any subsequent times they walk with us, they will be required to pay the $2 guest fee.

NEXT GROUP WALK

We have two group walks in February.  

Our next group walk, which will be the Montgomery, Alabama YRE on Saturday February 21, 2026 at 9:30 a.m.

 
Directions to Embassy Suites - 300 Tallapoosa St. 334-269-5055. From I-65 southbound, take Exit 172 (Downtown/Clay St). After 1st traffic light, turn left on Herron. Cross Interstate bridge. Go 5 blocks and turn left on Molton. Turn right on Tallapoosa. From I-65 northbound, take Exit 172 (Herron). Turn right. Go 5 blocks. Left on Molton. Right on Tallapoosa.


  
After the walk, the group will meet up for lunch together at Hog Rock BBQ, 7585 US Hwy. 231, Wetumpka, AL, around 12:30 p.m.


Our second walk on will be our new Wetumpka YRE on Saturday February 21, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.  

OUR WETUMPKA WALK USES ONLY THE ONLINE START BOX. IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO WALK WITH US, YOU MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE USING THE ONLINE START BOX (OSB) AT THE AVA WEBSITE https://my.ava.org/find-an-event.php   

Directions to the Wetumpka Administration Bldg – 408 S Main St. From I-65, take Exit 181 - Hwy. 14 East. Approximately 12.5 miles, stay straight on Hwy. 212 when Hwy. 14 goes off to the left. Continue approximately 1 mile, as it becomes W. Bridge St., crossing the Coosa River Bridge. Then, turn right at the traffic light onto S. Main St. Just past the Hampton Inn, turn right just before the Administration Bldg. and continue down to the lower parking area, closer to the river.

Year Round Events (YRE)

The Capital City Wanderers offers 7 events that may be walked during daylight hours, any day the start point is opened though December 31, 2026.  At each location except Monroeville, Montevallo, and Wetumpka, there is a "Volksmarch Box" or "Walk Box" which contains instructions for registering.  For Monroeville, Montevallo, and Wetumpka, we are only using the Online Start Box feature on the AVA website.   Every participant must register.  Additional information can be found on the AVA website under Find a Walk.

Conditions

Everyone is welcome to participate.  Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  Pets must be on a leash at all times.  Litter should be discarded in proper receptacles.  No alcoholic beverages are allowed along the course.
