Scheduled Events for 2020
Registration for scheduled events will be at the event start point unless otherwise specified in the event brochure (see links below).  There is a $3 registration fee for IVV credit.  Those not seeking IVV credit may walk for free.

Please mark your calendars for these upcoming CCWWC walks.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, we are canceling our group walk and in-person club meeting in Birmingham that was scheduled for June 27, 2020.

We will be holding our club's election meeting via Zoom.  If you are a club member, and would like to participate in the meeting, please contact Karen VanSant at

As of now, our next group walk is scheduled for September 12, 2020 in Montevallo, but that may change as the coronavirus situation warrants. We will try to reschedule our group walks affected by the cancellation as soon as possible.

If you still want to walk our year-round-events on your own, please note that the starting point for Montevallo is at a location that are currently closed until further notice and therefore the walk box is still unavailable.

For the YREs in Athens, Birmingham, and Montgomery – the walk boxes are at hotels, which should be open. The YRE in Monroeville is at the Police Station, which should also be open. However, we suggest that you contact the start point location directly to determine the status, since it may change on a day-to-day basis, or you can contact the walk POC.

The Huntsville/Madison County Visitor Center will reopen on June 19 with socially distanced modifications, so our walk box will be available once the Center is reopen.

Future Capital City Wanderers Walks (all are group walks of our YREs unless otherwise noted):

October 17, 2020 Athens (group walk)
October 18, 2020 Huntsville (group walk)
November 7, 2020 Montgomery (group walk)

NOTICE - Montevallo Walk Box

The Chamber of Commerce has moved from the location of 845 Valley St to a temporary location on Campus. The walk box had to find a new location. Steve Gilbert the Executive Director of the Chambers of Commerce was so gracious and found a new home and arranged entrance on non-business days.

The box is officially located in the front lobby of Montevallo City Hall. City Hall is opened Monday through Friday 8 AM to 4:30 PM During off hours like holidays and weekends, use the intercom box located on the right hand wall near the front entrance. The police dispatcher will open the door.

We will be updating the walk directions, however in the meantime, the walk itself will continue to start at 845 Valley St.--Chamber of Commerce old address. The City Hall is very close to the start point of the walk. We recommend that you sign in, obtain walk directions, stamp your credit books, and take an envelope with you so you do not have to return to the Montevallo City Hall. Once you finished signing in, just take a left on Main, left on Middle and right on Valley and 845 Valley is on the left, across the street from the bank's parking lot. Or if you use City Hall’s driveway, it connects to Valley St and then you will take a right.

The information available on the AVA website has been updated to reflect the change in walk box location.
