​Scheduled Events for 2025









Registration for scheduled events will be at the event start point unless otherwise specified in the event brochure (see links below).  Due to the increasing fee the AVA is charging clubs per walk, we have raised our registration fee to $4 for IVV credit.  For walkers not seeking IVV credit (aka “Guest Walkers”), if a person is walking as a first-time guest at one of our group walks, they can walk for free, and the club will pick up the $2 fee for that walk. For any subsequent times they walk with us, they will be required to pay the $2 guest fee.

NEXT GROUP WALK

Our last group walk of 2025 will be Saturday December 13, 2025. We will be walking our Birmingham Year-Round-Event. A club meeting will follow the walk.

We will meet at the Springhill Suites by Marriott hotel (the walk start point) at 9:30 a.m. for the group walk. The address is 2024 4th Ave S., Birmingham, AL. Tel: 205.322.8600

To get to the Start Point – 
• Traveling North on I65. take exit 259 (University Blvd). Stay right and follow University Blvd to 20th St S. Turn left on 20th St S then right on 4th Ave S. Hyatt Place is on the left.
• Traveling South on I65 take the 4th Ave South exit. Stay on 4th Ave S. The Hotel is just past 20th St S on the left.

We will have lunch and a club meeting at Tasty Town Restaurant.  It is located by the Railroad Park and we will stop to eat then finish our walk.  The restaurant is close to the end of the walk and has limited parking.  The address of the restaurant is 16 14th Street South, Birmingham, AL  35233, phone number

We plan on meeting to discuss our schedule for next year. We hope you can walk with us on December 13 and throughout the year next year. Just a reminder that our Year-Round-Events can be walked anytime so if you cannot walk with us at our scheduled group walks, you are always welcome to walk our events on your own whenever it is convenient for you.

Year Round Events (YRE)

The Capital City Wanderers offers 7 events that may be walked during daylight hours, any day the start point is opened though December 31, 2025.  At each location except Monroeville and Montevallo, there is a "Volksmarch Box" or "Walk Box" which contains instructions for registering.  For Monroeville and Montevallo, we are only using the Online Start Box feature on the AVA website.   Every participant must register.  Additional information can be found on the AVA website under Find a Walk.  



Other Clubs' Events

Conditions

Everyone is welcome to participate.  Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  Pets must be on a leash at all times.  Litter should be discarded in proper receptacles.  No alcoholic beverages are allowed along the course.
