Scheduled Events for 2022
Registration for scheduled events will be at the event start point unless otherwise specified in the event brochure (see links below).  There is a $3 registration fee for IVV credit.  Those not seeking IVV credit may walk for free.

GROUP WALKS OCTOBER 15 and 16, 2022

We have TWO group walks coming up in October. for your walking pleasure.

Group Walk #1

We will have a group walk of our new event, in Madison, AL on Saturday October 15, 2022. We will meet at 9:00 a.m. at the walk start point Main Street Café, 101 Main Street, Madison AL. We will have the walk box at the Start Point on Main Street on Saturday morning.

Directions to the walk - From I-65, take exit 340 onto I-565 Eastbound. Take exit 9 and turn left onto Wall-Triana Hwy (note, the street will change names to Sullivan Street when you cross Madison Boulevard). Turn right onto Main Street, just before the railroad track, and the start point will be in front of the building on the left.

Group Walk #2

We will then have a group walk on Sunday October 16, 2022. We will meet at the Start Point at the Huntsville Madison County Visitor’s Center at 9:30 a.m. The address of the Visitor’s Center is 500 Church St., Suite One Huntsville, AL 35801.  

 Directions to the walk - From I-65, take exit 340 onto I-565 Eastbound. Take exit 19C bearing right onto Jefferson St. Turn right onto Monroe St. Turn right onto Church St. Cross the railroad tracks. Turn right on Cleveland, then turn right into the parking lot - park in the parking lot across the street from the Visitor Center. We will meet in the parking lot since the Visitor’s Center will not be open until 12:00 p.m. (we will have the walk box in the parking lot on Sunday morning)

The Maple Hill Cemetery Stroll is scheduled for the afternoon of October 16, so we will have lunch after our group walk at the Melt – Huntsville, (located at 201 Jefferson St, N in Huntsville), then anyone who is interested can join us for the Cemetery Stroll that afternoon. November 11-13, 2022 - Multiple County Walk Weekend (Chilton, Coosa, Autauga, Elmore, Lowndes, and

Year Round Events (YRE)

The Capital City Wanderers offers 6 events that may be walked during daylight hours, any day the start point is opened between January 1-December 31, 2021.  At each location, there is a "Volksmarch Box" or "Walk Box" which contains instructions for registering.  There is a $3 registration fee for IVV credit.  Those not seeking IVV credit may walk for free.  Every participant must register.  Additional information can be found by clicking on the city below.

Other Clubs' Events

Georgia Walkers - Our sister club, the Georgia Walkers, sponsors Year Round Event walks in Georgia as well as in Chattanooga, Tennessee.   Please visit their website for additional information.  


Everyone is welcome to participate.  Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  Pets must be on a leash at all times.  Litter should be discarded in proper receptacles.  No alcoholic beverages are allowed along the course.
